I work abstractly in acrylic and collage on paper, using recycled wood, and paper and canvas.
One theme that has informed my life and work is a deep, sensual vibrance and attunement to nature that meets, transcends and transforms the mundane and the threatening. In my paintings there is a kind of weaving of the sublime with a more fervent, unsettled quaking: A “marriage of earthquakes and angels”, one could say.
I have been informed that upon viewing, my paintings produce “apocalyptic”, “transformational”, “healing” effects; and that they are “as powerful to look at as Buddhist thangkas.”* And I have worked as a healer in my time.
In my world, and hopefully others’, I have faith that my art can render limitations into something more luscious. Wondrous. Transcendent.
This, in any case, is my wish.
